Port Sunlight Village Trust (PSVT) is recruiting!

After a two-year hiatus, we are delighted to announce that PSVT is recruiting! We are looking for new staff to join our brilliant team to be part of an exciting programme of transformational change for our business and for Port Sunlight.

We want passionate and talented people for a range of full-time, part-time, and casual positions across the organisation, some of which are existing posts, others are brand new opportunities.

You might know Port Sunlight as a chocolate box village with scented rose gardens, an amazing art gallery, wide open spaces, and a strong connection to soap. And that is all true. But did you also know that the world’s first multi-national company was created here? That the people who lived in the village and worked in the original soap factory, and the workers in Unilever’s factory here today, transformed how we wash our bodies and clean our homes, and continue to do so? And that the design of Port Sunlight, as an industrial model village, makes it one of the most significant examples of its kind in the world?

If Port Sunlight’s global story wasn’t enough, today Port Sunlight is a living village, home to 2k+ residents. It is also a tourist attraction that welcomes 300k+ visitors (pre-pandemic). And its ownership is shared amongst a diverse group of stakeholders, from National Museums Liverpool to Wirral Council, Unilever plc to homeowners, all of whom share a passion for this special place.

PSVT is at the heart of all of this. Our vision is to make “Port Sunlight, an inspiring place to live, work and visit.” As a charity, private landlord, and custodian of this incredible place we are an exciting organisation to work for with a very diverse business model. You will find us maintaining the village’s public art, increasing biodiversity, working with residents to care for their grade II listed homes, promoting wellbeing and community cohesion, and educating, inspiring and entertaining people of all ages through our museum, learning programmes and events. Our work and decisions are underpinned by our values – creativity, passion, knowledge, integrity, respect, and participation – and a total commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, and environmental sustainability.

It’s a good time to be joining PSVT. We are entering a period of transformation for our business and the village. Over the next 5 years we’ll be building new family housing, working to improve the energy efficiency of historic buildings, reinterpreting the history and significance of Port Sunlight with communities to tell a fuller story and appeal to a more diverse audience, investing in the beautiful monuments, and creating new visitor and community facilities. We will also be working with our partners to protect and raise the profile of the village’s heritage, drive economic growth for the area, and ensure sustainability of local communities.

If you’re looking for job satisfaction, believe in the difference heritage and the natural environment can make to people’s lives, and want to be part of a transformation process, Port Sunlight is right for you. Our current vacancies are:

  • Conservation & Maintenance Manager
  • Casual Tour Guides (this position has now closed)
  • Customer Service Administrator
  • Finance Assistant
  • Casual Visitor Services Assistants, and
  • Gardener/Driver

We’ll be announcing a few more opportunities in the coming weeks so if these vacancies don’t quite suit your skillset, interests, or career aspirations, keep an eye out for further updates!
