Uncover stories at Port Sunlight Museum
Giant models, interactive displays and fascinating artefacts await at Port Sunlight Museum. You can even play pretend at a recreated shop counter as you browse the historic bars of Sunlight Soap that gave the village its name. Find out what school-life was like for Port Sunlight’s children and take a seat in the cinema room to watch old footage of Port Sunlight’s early days.
Take part in a seasonal activity trail
Spring, summer, autumn or winter… your family can enjoy a fun trail around the village filled with activities to keep you busy no matter when you visit. The self-led trails have something for all little ones to enjoy, from wildlife spotting to sporty challenges to arty activities. Pick up your trail pack from Port Sunlight Museum (open Wednesday-Sunday) for just £2 each to get going.
Step back in time inside the Edwardian Worker’s Cottage
Next door to Port Sunlight Museum is the Edwardian Worker’s Cottage, where you can step back in time to experience what life was like for a typical Port Sunlight family in 1913. See where they slept, cooked, cleaned and spent time together in this fascinating time capsule of Edwardian life.
Play all day in Port Sunlight’s parks
There are plenty of green spaces and parkland in the village for a good run around, a picturesque picnic or to explore nature. One of our favourite spots to play is the beautiful Dell park with its magical bridge and valley-like surroundings – did you know this used be a tidal creek before it was drained as part of the work to create Port Sunlight?
Other green spaces to explore include the Diamond, the village’s magnificent central boulevard with a colourful rose garden and lawned areas perfect for rolling around. You can also find a wild woodland area near Christ Church (on King Edward’s Drive) to really get their imaginations going.
Tuck into tasty treats
The Museum Green (opposite Port Sunlight Museum) is home to mobile tasty treats for the whole family, usually open between Wednesday-Sunday. Take a seat on the deck chairs and tuck into a selection of drinks, ice cream, cakes and biscuits and the best coffee around from Mule Coffee & Copa Coffee.
Of course, you’re welcome to bring a picnic too and make the most of Port Sunlight’s beautiful green spaces. There are plenty of benches dotted around the village too.
