11th Jun 2010
VOLUNTEER OPEN DAY
SATURDAY 19 JUNE 10.00AM - 1.00PM
Port Sunlight Museum has recently been awarded Full Accreditation Status by the Museums, Libraries & Archives Council. This is a national award for organisations that meet set standards in the way that they manage and look after their collections, visitors, and staff.
We will be holding a drop-in day on Saturday 19 June for all existing and potential volunteers to find out about new opportunities for involvement at Port Sunlight Museum, including:
- Village events 2010: The Summer Festival and Christmas Food Fair;
- Port Sunlight's War Memorial Restoration Project;
- Collections management and care;
- Historical research for the museum redevelopment project;
- Reminiscence sessions and intergenerational work;
- School workshops; and,
- Working in the museum and gift shop.
Staff will be on hand throughout the morning to provide you with more information about the different areas of work. Don't worry if you are not registered as a volunteer with the museum, you will be able to sign-up on the day.
The Open Day will run from 10am-1pm at the Greendale Road offices, above the former Heritage Centre opposite Port Sunlight train station.
We look forward to seeing you on the 19th June.
